O L D Q U A R T E R L Y began as a secret self-indulgent response to a seasonally-idiosyncratic mind. It now exists outside of an apartment and includes various work by artistically inclined outsiders spanning the globe. O L D believes in supporting and indulging every naked mind unconditionally. Each issue is topical and no topic will ever be repeated during its existence as a publication. Each issue is formatted to best articulate the topic discussed, existing in handmade editions of 50.

As well as music, I make a zine. Last night I organized and hosted OLD QUARTERLY MEETS THE PARK. Thank you so much to the beauties that came to witness (the park was FULL!) and to the wonderful performers. A gracious heart is a swollen heart. This image captures it well!

Performers will be sharing 5-10 mins of stories, poems, prose, song, and/or performance at dusk under a large blanket fort.
This event is free and will take place in D5 - but if you are unfamiliar with James McDonough’s infamous TrinGrid, you’ll find the event by the fort. It will conclude around 10 pm (though probably before) with a surprise that will sweep you towards childhood.
GOOD VIBES (!!!!) are very much encouraged.

I have received the most beautiful submissions! Oh My World! Thank you! Submissions closed June 8th, but I’m a nice girl (i.e. If you missed out, I won’t hold it against you - I have a hard time saying no to beautiful art/sound, so keep sending, and you never know where it will end up). This issue keeps expanding (at the same rate as my noggin) therefore, I am throughly stoked! Soon! Keep your ears peeled. Tentative Issue Date = July 1st.

It’s been too long.
Wanted to let you know that there are a VERY LIMITED NUMBER of issues left to OLD QUARTERLY MEETS THE VISION! Gotta say, it’s the prettiest. It barely made it into stores actually. I am starting to think that I should up my production from 50 to 100. What do you think? Does this change your opinion of my publication at all? I want to know what you are thinking/what you wish/what you want.
I sent out another batch today, and I will send out the last batch tomorrow. I have been receiving a few emails stating that the issue is arriving in your mailbox a touch late- I too have been receiving mail a touch late, as of late, but I hope this changes. Please know that your order is always processed within 2 weeks, and it will always reach you between 4-5 depending on production demands (I am just one girl, in a small apartment, small hands that are cut/bruised/stitched beyond repair)*.

Brooke Manning is a lovely lady who, amongstother things, curates and publishes OLD Quarterly, a Toronto-based literary journal filled with amazing words and images. I understand that we’re primarily a photo-blog, but this zine is actually important, and I feel as though the majority of you are interested in words. We recently both showed at Zine Dream 2, and I was so awed that I decided to ask her to share a few words… and all I can say in response is “Exactly.”
WHO:
I am having trouble answering this. I have stared at this question for 17 minutes. I wrote once:
if there is a secret to my being it is that i rarely feel human i don’t know what’s happening but my feet hurt and there is blood in my body

WHAT:
send me your marrow there’ll be certain bloodshed and i’ll fed the hungry with all that’s inside me- i don’t think in assertion and i’d like to not own myself anymore… (perhaps i can’t tell what WHAT is anymore?)
